The Mary T Family of Companies is hiring for a full-time Lead Assisted Living Aide at our Assisted Living facility located in Coon Rapids, MN.

The Lead is responsible for the direct care, safety, and wellbeing of the assisted living residents; complete assigned responsibilities according to the care plan; assist the residents in the attainment of physical and emotional wellbeing with the goal of achieving the highest level of independence possible, along with promoting and encouraging resident participation in activities. They will also provide leadership to the other employees and complete other administrative tasks as assigned.

Schedule: Full-time, 32 hours per week. Daytime hours from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Mondays, Tuesdays, and every-other Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist the client with personal cares as identified in the assignment sheet/client care plan.a.
    • Cares completed may include all or some of the following: assisting with dressing, grooming and oral cares, shampooing of hair, assisting with showering/bathing, rubbing with lotions, fingernail cares and foots cares if instructed to do so by an RN, redirection of a confused client and other cares as assigned.
  • Assisting clients with use of the commode/urinal/toilet and with adult incontinence products as assigned.
  • Provide leadership to the ALA team by assisting the Director with administrative duties as needed/assigned.
  • Prepare meals as directed following special meal plans if instructed. Dine with residents and provide assistance as needed.
    • Quality meals are prepared and enjoyed by residents. Residents are engaged at meal times.
  • Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by RN Manger such as: medication administration, blood glucose monitoring, blood pressure checks and catheter care.
    • Nursing services are completed accurately and timely – according to nurse direction.
  • Help each client to reach and maintain his/her highest level of performance and independence. Must promote clients’ independence, not dependency, by offering choices and fostering self-help skills.
    • Residents are given options and choices.
    • Residents are encouraged to complete tasks independently.
    • Residents are happy and content.
  • Establish rapport with clients, lead client activities as assigned and provide socialization and companionship to clients while performing assigned tasks.
    • Engage with residents in activities and conversation during periods of downtime.
    • Good relationships are established with residents. Residents are happy and engaged.
  • Assist with treatments as delegated by the RN according to the client’s individualized care plan or with therapy tasks as assigned by a licensed health professional.
    • Tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Observe client and report to the LPN or RN changes in the clients’ physical and emotional condition such as change in attitude, appearance, loss in appetite, weight, etc.
    • Changes in residents are observed and reported in a timely manner.
  • Document services are provided accurately and consistent with agency policies and complete all required paperwork in a timely and legible manner.
    • Documentation is thorough and completed correctly and timely.
  • Attend required in-service training – at least 12 hours for every 12 months of employment as well as staff meetings and other agency events.
    • Ensure training requirements are met and attendance at staff meetings occurs.
    • Responsible for on-going online Educare, following the guideline pertaining to dementia, behaviors, aggression, etc.
  • Maintain a clean environment for clients. Utilize infection control procedures. Dust, vacuum, mop resident rooms and common areas of the community and other household chores as scheduled or assigned, including assisting with laundry.
  • Ensure rooms and buildings are well maintained. Report concerns to maintenance personnel and supervisor.
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed when transferring persons, assisting with wheelchairs or using any mechanical equipment.
  • Utilize good communication and coordination skills. Information on person(s) served status is communicated to the Case Manager and interdisciplinary team.
  • Openly and respectfully communicate concerns with co-workers and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  • None required, CNA certification preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with the elderly or disabled in an assisted living setting, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to become proficient in company software and data systems
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to tactfully and compassionately work and communicate with clients, their family member and other staff
  • Attentive & empathetic
  • Positive interpersonal skills and sensitivity
  • Self-directed, able to organize time and assignments
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as assigned
  • Understanding of care for individuals with physical, medical mental health, behavioral, and/or emotional needs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Understanding and ability to practice safety precautions and infection control procedures
  • Ability to accept and utilize constructive feedback in a positive manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate and practice the principles of proper body mechanics for all physical activities
  • Knowledge of and ability to use position related equipment properly and safely

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Complete all position related training.
  • Obtain and maintain required licenses.
