Overview

Mars United is seeking a dynamic Group Director, Client Leadership to lead integrated omnicommerce campaigns for multiple client accounts including a high-profile alcoholic beverage client.

In this role, you will combine your deep understanding of traditional brand marketing, shopper marketing, and retail media with your exceptional client management skills to lead the overall vision for success within the account. Working directly with the client as well as in partnership with cross-functional retail media, brand, marketing, sales, and insights teams, you will drive strategic planning for client omnicommerce campaigns, ensuring that the brand is properly represented across all retail partners, all goals and expectations are clearly defined, and client business goals are both met and exceeded.

This is a highly collaborative role that will require a combination of account/client relationship management and conceptual brand creative/marketing strategy.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid role based out of our New York City office and will require onsite engagement an average of 3 days/week. All candidates should be commutable to that location and available to work in a hybrid capacity. Highly qualified candidates who are local to the Chicago and Miami markets may also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Client Leadership
    • Serve as the primary point of contact between clients and Mars United Commerce.
    • Forge and maintain trust-based relationships with senior clients to secure long-term partnerships.
  • Business Planning
    • Build and deliver annual scopes of work and oversee the completion of contracted deliverables.
    • Support contracts and fee arrangement negotiations as required.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Oversee the development and implementation of strategic omnichannel marketing plans, including brand, consumer promotions, shopper marketing, and retail media, that meet or exceed client objectives and drive tangible business results.
  • Team Management
    • Lead and mentor a team of account managers/directors, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Project Oversight
    • Ensure work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
    • Ensure the company product includes future-forward thinking anchored in business strategy and insights.
  • Financial Management
    • Manage assigned P&Ls, forecasts, and overall client financial performance, ensuring profitability and efficiency via ownership of monthly, quarterly, and annual review, reconciliation, and vendor management for assigned brands.
  • Business Development
    • Identify and partner in opportunities for new and incremental business, contributing to the company’s growth and success.
  • Market Insights
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, consumer behavior, and the competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be substituted
  • 12 years of prior advertising agency experience managing multiple large, complex accounts and client relationships; prior experience supporting shopper and retail marketing campaigns within the alcoholic beverage industry with a focus on in-store physical retail, commerce, and GTM campaigns strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing a variety of competing high-priority needs and relationships across multiple accounts as well as concurrently leading account teams in various stages of delivery for multiple accounts.
  • Experience serving as a leader and brand representative for IAT groups, attending IAT meetings as needed.
  • Experience strategizing and concepting high-level programming for in-store retail campaigns as well as some digital/print campaigns.
  • Deep understanding of key components of brand and distributor relationships, including Joint Business Planning, Top to Tops, and Channel and Category Strategies.
  • Focus on staying current on industry trends and best practices and experience conducting store visits to perform competitive audits and report on insights gathered.
  • Highly collaborative approach to teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Dynamic personality able to effectively engage and influence a variety of audiences, including senior client leaders.
  • A confident presenter and an outstanding listener with clear and persuasive verbal and written communication skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Natural dissatisfaction with the status quo with a constant desire to think of ways to improve and grow the business.
  • Sound decision-making ability rooted in agency, client, and industry knowledge.
  • A creative problem-solver who is adept at analyzing results, synthesizing data, drawing out insights & implications, and developing insightful and actionable recommendations.
  • Strong business acumen with a constant eye toward growth.
  • Prior direct P&L experience.
  • Prior experience directly managing teams.
  • Highly strategic with exceptional conceptual thinking skills.

Compensation Range: $119,510-$171,675 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
