Principal Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day customer interface, ensuring customer requirements are understood and communicated to the organization.
- Proactive communication with operations personnel, ensuring job requirements are clear and understood regarding barge drafts, tow size, customer expectations, etc.
- Learn the various river segments and geographical knowledge of marine areas serviced and related towing requirements.
- Participate in pricing negotiations with customers, service vendors, etc.
- Overall knowledge and understanding of both covered and open hopper freight values and pricing impact.
- Effective problem solving, creating safe operational solutions and customer value.
- Logistical planning of barge orders to match various customer loading schedules.
- Prepare daily traffic reports for customers and the organization.
- Communication and coordination with marine service vendors.
- Manage voyage activity and costs to match job bids and orders.
- Serve in on-call rotation, ensuring coverage after hours and on weekends and holidays.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Agriculture or related field preferred.
- Must have excellent customer service skills, be a proactive problem solver, and be comfortable in decision making process that directly affects the P&L.
- Must be analytical, detail oriented, flexible, organized, self-driven, creative thinker, etc.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel to customers, fleets, vendors, elevators, vessels, etc.
