Open Top Logistics Manager (Barge)

Principal Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day customer interface, ensuring customer requirements are understood and communicated to the organization.
• Proactive communication with operations personnel, ensuring job requirements are clear and understood regarding barge drafts, tow size, customer expectations, etc.
• Learn the various river segments and geographical knowledge of marine areas serviced and related towing requirements.
• Participate in pricing negotiations with customers, service vendors, etc.
• Overall knowledge and understanding of both covered and open hopper freight values and pricing impact.
• Effective problem solving, creating safe operational solutions and customer value.
• Logistical planning of barge orders to match various customer loading schedules.
• Prepare daily traffic reports for customers and the organization.
• Communication and coordination with marine service vendors.
• Manage voyage activity and costs to match job bids and orders.
• Serve in on-call rotation, ensuring coverage after hours and on weekends and holidays.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Agriculture or related field preferred.
• Must have excellent customer service skills, be a proactive problem solver, and be comfortable in decision making process that directly affects the P&L.
• Must be analytical, detail oriented, flexible, organized, self-driven, creative thinker, etc.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel to customers, fleets, vendors, elevators, vessels, etc.
