Duties
- Operate cash registers and POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately to process retail sales transactions
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
- Handle cash handling duties including cash drawer management, making change, and processing various payment methods
- Upsell products and promote store promotions or special offers to maximize sales opportunities
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise displays, and assist with merchandising efforts to enhance store presentation
- Conduct product demos when applicable to educate customers about features and benefits of items
- Maintain phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers over the phone
- Assist with inventory management tasks such as stocking shelves and participating in stock counts
Requirements
- Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred, especially with cashiering duties
- Strong communication skills, including bilingual abilities, are highly valued for engaging diverse customers
- Proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations is essential for accurate transaction processing
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions, making change, and balancing cash drawers at shift end
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a friendly attitude and professional phone etiquette
- Supervising experience or leadership skills are a plus for supporting team efforts and product demos
- Knowledge of retail store product details, merchandising techniques, and retail math principles
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as stocking shelves or organizing displays
- Grocery store experience is advantageous for understanding store operations and customer needs
