We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support our financial team with day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping tasks. This is an entry-level position ideal for an organized individual looking to grow their accounting career within a dynamic luxury retail environment.
The Accounting Assistant works closely with the team to ensure accurate recordkeeping, timely processing of financial transactions, and smooth daily operations.
The Experience
As an Accounting Assistant at Marissa Collections, you will support the accounting team with a range of financial and administrative responsibilities, including:
• Opening and sorting all accounting mail
• Forwarding incoming invoices to the inventory department as needed
• Processing and verifying pending vouchers and returns
• Verifying gift cards are drained
• Processing POA documents
• Pulling and filing invoices for check runs
• Conducting AR outreach as needed
• Reconciling invoices and identifying discrepancies
• Creating and updating expense reports
• Processing reimbursement forms
• Preparing bank deposits
• Entering financial transactions into internal databases
• Checking spreadsheets for accuracy
• Maintaining digital and physical financial records
• Issuing invoices to customers and external partners, as needed
• Supporting the accounting team with additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Language Ability
Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, customers, and internal departments.
Math Ability
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percentages, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (data entry, basic formulas, spreadsheet organization), is required. Comfort with email, internet research, and general office applications is essential. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or retail inventory management systems is a plus. The ability to learn new systems quickly within the introductory period is an essential requirement.
Education & Experience
Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred. Equivalent coursework or work experience will also be considered. Prior experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative support role is a plus but not required. We welcome candidates who are eager to learn and build their accounting career.
