Duties
- facilitate a variety of engaging activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including recreational therapy sessions and social events.
- Assist with the development of programs that promote cognitive stimulation, memory care, and overall mental health for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
- Provide transportation services for residents to medical appointments, community outings, and recreational activities, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to support residents’ participation in activities that enhance their quality of life and foster social connections.
- Maintain detailed schedules for resident activities and transportation routes, managing changes efficiently to accommodate residents’ needs.
- Build strong relationships with residents through compassionate communication, understanding their individual preferences and needs.
- Support residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, including mobility assistance and personal care during outings or activities.
- Coordinate resident events by working closely with team members to ensure smooth execution and maximum participation.
- Keep accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation, and transportation logs to support care planning and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or long-term care settings, especially in geriatrics or memory care environments.
- Prior assisted living or nursing home experience with a focus on senior care, dementia care, or Alzheimer's support is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and program development tailored to seniors’ physical and cognitive abilities.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with residents, families, team members, and external partners effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for scheduling, documentation, and reporting purposes.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs within a geriatric population is preferred.
- Ability to coordinate multiple resident activities while managing transportation schedules efficiently.
- Compassionate approach to caregiving combined with team leadership qualities to foster a positive community atmosphere.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling and social work principles related to senior living environments is a plus.
