Responsibilities
- Safely administer prescribed medications to residents following all state healthcare regulations and facility protocols.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, symptoms, and overall health status, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
- Assist residents with personal care tasks including hygiene, mobility, tube feeding, catheter care, and memory or dementia care.
- Support residents during activities of daily living (ADLs), providing compassionate care tailored to individual needs.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to coordinate resident care plans and medication schedules.
- Follow proper manual handling procedures during resident transfers and heavy lifting to ensure safety for both residents and staff.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior or geriatric patient care practices.
- Certification or training in CPR and First Aid; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are advantageous.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Epic or Cerner; experience with EHR systems is a plus.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and perform manual handling tasks in accordance with safety standards.
- Strong communication skills for effective caregiver communication and resident interaction.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures including tube feeding and Alzheimer's/dementia/memory care practices.
- Compliance with state Board of Nursing requirements or relevant healthcare licensing standards.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice or acute care is beneficial.
