About the RoleOur client is seeking a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations and ensure financials are accurate, organized, and actionable. This is a hands-on position suited for someone who enjoys improving processes, building systems, and collaborating closely with leadership to support a growing real estate and hospitality platform.You’ll play a key role in developing scalable accounting infrastructure as the business expands from four assets to a larger, diversified portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesManage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, payroll, and bank reconciliationsPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAPMaintain accurate records across multiple entities and property-level operationsHandle cash management, reconciliations, and forecastingSupport budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysisCoordinate with external accountants and auditors on annual filings and tax returnsStrengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and documentationTrack investment performance and property-level resultsIdentify opportunities to automate workflows and improve reportingQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required5–8 years of progressive accounting experience in income-producing real estate, property management, REITs, or hospitalityStrong technical accounting knowledge (GAAP) and attention to detailTech-savvy and comfortable improving systems and reporting processesProficiency in NetSuite or similar accounting platformsExperience managing multiple entities and consolidationsExcellent communicator who takes ownership and works well independentlyBonus: experience implementing new systems or softwareIdeal FitIntegrity-focused: embraces fiduciary responsibility and transparent reportingHands-on: detail-oriented but able to see the big pictureCollaborative: works closely with operations and leadershipReliable: keeps books clean and processes consistentProactive: identifies issues early and builds practical solutionsOpportunityHelp professionalize and scale accounting as the platform growsGain exposure to lender reporting, investor communications, and capital eventsLead process automation and reporting improvementsGrow into an Assistant Controller or Director of Finance roleParticipate in strategic discussions around expansion and capital marketsCompensationOur client offers a performance-based environment that rewards ownership mentality, continuous improvement, and long-term contribution with clear opportunities for advancement and compensation growth.
