We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller who thrives on organization, precision, and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity for a construction-savvy accounting professional ready to step into a leadership role with room for long-term growth.

The ideal candidate is fluent in construction and cost accounting, understands multi-entity financials, and is comfortable leveraging technology—including AI tools—to improve reporting and forecasting. This role will be instrumental in helping us scale our financial operations as we continue to grow our portfolio of companies and projects.

• Oversee all accounting functions across multiple entities (TomCo Solutions, Building Success Enterprises, TomCo Capital Partners, etc.).
• Manage general ledger accounting, ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Prepare and analyze profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and financial performance reports.
• Supervise accounts payable/receivable, ensuring accuracy and proper coding.
• Oversee payroll processing and assist with onboarding/offboarding and basic HR compliance.
• Manage sales and use tax filings and support external CPA firms during annual tax preparation.
• Maintain accurate job costing and project-level financial tracking.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Evaluate and implement AI-enhanced systems to improve automation and reporting (QuickBooks, Buildertrend, ChatGPT, Fathom, etc.).
• Lead or assist in general ledger conversions and accounting system upgrades.
• Prepare consolidated financial packages for ownership, investors, and board review.
• Support financial oversight of real estate and investment accounting functions.
• Ensure strong internal controls, compliance, and operational efficiency across all entities.
  

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including construction or cost accounting.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and Buildertrend required; experience with multi-entity setups a plus.
• Proven ability to manage complex reconciliations and multi-entity financials.
• Familiarity with AI-based platforms (ChatGPT, Fathom, etc.) for reporting and process improvement.
• Experience managing or participating in general ledger conversions highly preferred.
• Understanding of payroll, sales/use tax, and basic HR practices.
• Real estate or investment accounting experience is desirable.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
• Passion for learning, problem-solving, and contributing to a culture of excellence.
• Preference for bilingual candidates (Spanish)

• Salary: Starting at $70,000 , based on experience.
