What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Grinder position at Manufacturing Concepts?
Duties and responsibilities:
- Independent set-up and operation of CNC-controlled grinding-machine and center -grinder.
- Selects, clamps and aligns work-pieces and fixtures, tools, attachments and accessories for required machining.
- Sets expansion-rate on finished hydraulic holders.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, angle and depth of cut required for machining.
- Enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control data.
- Balances tools (grinding-wheels) required for OD-grinding.
- Starts and observes machine-operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance-machining, and to adjust machine-controls or control-data as required.
- Communicates with supervisor or design-engineer about adjustments in dimensions and tolerances (if reasonable with quality requirements).

- Verifies conformance of finished work-piece by checking specifications, cross-references counterparts of assembly (if available) and/or Mfg. order, signing off on manufacturing papers.
- Confers with supervisor, engineering or coworkers to resolve difficulties and concerns in machining process or design of parts.
- Confers with supervisor about repairs of equipment & performs all scheduled maintenance-intervals on machine.
- Installs some replacement-parts into machines, mechanisms and equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
- Maintains work areas in accordance with SCHUNK 5S system, e.g. Organizes tools and accessories inside tool cabinets at working area/machine, clean oil- and coolant spills at machine, cabinets and surrounding area.
Job Requirements and Experience:
- A high school diploma is required. Machine technology certificate will also be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Grinding or similar field in the industrial sector i.e. manufacturing & construction.
- Understands functional application of hydraulic tool-holders.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances used to machine hydraulic tool-holders.
- Experienced in operation and handling of calipers and all precision-grade gages to be used during in-process and finished inspection.
- Understands metric & English measurement systems.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
