Location: Minneapolis, MN (100% onsite)
Pay: $60 - $82/hour
Duration: 6-9 month, Contract to Potential Hire
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to immediately step in and lead critical, high-priority workstreams within a new product development program focused on Active Implantable medical devices.
This role will take ownership of complex, cross-functional initiatives—primarily within software, firmware, and cybersecurity—supporting a product currently in the FDA submission and remediation phase. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced PM who thrives in regulated environments and can drive execution, accountability, and progress across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
Program & Workstream Leadership
- Lead high-visibility workstreams within an active implantable product program
- Own project execution for software, firmware, and cybersecurity-related activities
- Drive progress on FDA deficiency remediation and amendment submissions
- Manage activities spanning verification, validation, and testing phases
- Own and maintain detailed project plans using Microsoft Project
- Facilitate standups, core team meetings, and status reviews
- Define tasks, assign ownership, and track deliverables to completion
- Manage timelines, risks, dependencies, and critical path activities
- Ensure alignment across cross-functional stakeholders
- Lead coordination between R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Engineering teams
- Partner closely with external cybersecurity consultants, driving deliverables and accountability
- Support requirements development and documentation flow through internal systems
- Drive quality and risk management activities related to software/firmware updates
- Act as the core team lead, overseeing project execution
- Provide structure, direction, and prioritization across multiple workstreams
- Ensure strong communication and alignment across all stakeholders
- 7–10 years of direct experience as a Project or Program Manager
- Proven experience managing projects in a regulated industry (medical device highly preferred)
- Background in R&D / New Product Development (NPD) environments
- Strong experience leading complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project and structured project planning
- Experience with Class III medical devices
- Exposure to Active Implantable medical devices
- Familiarity with FDA submission processes, including deficiency remediation
- Experience with cybersecurity initiatives and standards within medical devices
- Demonstrated ability to manage software or firmware-related workstreams from a PM perspective
- Technical background in engineering, software, firmware, or IT (not required)
- Strong knowledge of Waterfall project management methodologies
- Exposure to Agile methodologies (nice to have; environment currently Waterfall)
- Primarily onsite role with some flexibility for remote work
- Team operates on a collaborative, high-accountability model
- Summer schedule: 9-hour days Monday–Thursday, half-day Fridays
- Will inherit an existing Microsoft Project baseline and take ownership immediately
- Opportunity to step into a high-impact role supporting a critical product launch
- Potential for full-time conversion based on performance and business need
- Eligible for performance-based bonus potential if converted
