CNC Lathe Machinist (Setup & Operator)

🎯 Position Overview

We’re seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to set up and operate 2-axis CNC lathe machines for repeat production work. This role requires strong blueprint reading, setup capability, and attention to quality standards.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 2-axis CNC lathe machines for repeat jobs
• Edit, retrieve, and run CNC programs as needed
• Read and interpret blueprints, travelers, and process sheets
• Inspect parts using tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
• Verify parts meet customer specs and quality standards
• Troubleshoot issues and follow non-conforming procedures
• Complete required paperwork and MRP documentation
• Monitor cycle times and improve efficiency
• Maintain clean and safe work area
• Communicate production issues with team and supervisors

✅ Requirements

• 3 years CNC lathe experience (setup operation)
• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Experience with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators, etc.)
• Knowledge of CNC programs (editing a plus)
• Strong shop math skills (measurements, conversions)
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities
• Basic computer skills

➕ Preferred

• Technical school or NTMA certification
• Experience improving setup or cycle times
• Continuous improvement mindset

💪 Physical Requirements

• Stand/sit for long periods
• Lift up to 25 lbs (occasionally 50 lbs with assistance)
• Repetitive hand/wrist motion
• Bending, walking, moving throughout shop

🏭 Work Environment

• Clean, well-ventilated machine shop
• Moderate noise
• PPE required (safety glasses, etc.)
