What You'll Do
As the first point of contact for our office, you will:
- Welcome and assist veterans, their families, and members of the public with professionalism and respect.
- Answer phones, respond to emails, schedule appointments, and process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Provide general information about Veterans Service Office programs and conduct preliminary eligibility screenings for veterans' benefits.
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the Veteran Service Officers.
- Review obituaries and update federal, state, and local veteran records.
- Coordinate with funeral homes to verify military service and process funeral flags, Presidential Memorial Certificates, and next-of-kin correspondence.
- Assist surviving family members with applications for veterans' grave markers and memorial benefits.
- Maintain accurate departmental records, filing systems, and electronic databases through data entry and record management.
- Manage the Veterans Service Office's social media accounts, create engaging content, compile newsletters, and coordinate email communications to keep veterans, families, and the community informed of available services, events, and important updates.
