JOB TITLE:  Occupational Therapist

JOB BRIEF:   

• To prevent or minimize the effects of disabilities in fine motor and perceptual motor skills, sensory integration functioning, self-care skills, and focusing and attention skills which may interfere with the student’s educational program.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Kansas licensure with endorsements in the specialty area required. 
• Degree from an accredited college or university.  
• Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.  
• All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:  

• Full time school year position.
• Based on Salary Schedule.
• 2025-2026 Salary Schedule
• 2026-2027 Salary yet to be established.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Special Services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Develops and maintains an occupational therapy environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.  
• Employs a variety of techniques to meet the needs and capabilities of students.
• Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. 
• Guides students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior.   
• Demonstrates strategies and techniques that are responsive to the cultural, ethnic, economic, and linguistic differences of students. 
• Conduct evaluations to determine qualification for occupational therapy services and to make recommendations. 
• Evaluates student progress on a continual basis and reports at designated times.  
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Provide direct, indirect, and consultation services as prescribed by individual student plans.  
• Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.  
• Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.  
• Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning progress of all assigned students.  
• Cooperates with other members of staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.  
• Other duties as assigned by administration.

RETIREMENT:

• USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.
• KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.

TECHNOLOGY: 

• District provided devices - iPad, laptop and/or desktop for certified staff.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
