TITLE : Occupational Therapist (OT)
Reports to : Assistant Director of Student Services
Job Goal : To provide direct and consultative services for children with disabilities that impact student learning within the realm of Occupational Therapy
Qualifications : Valid Kansas Occupational Therapy License
Performance and Responsibilities :
Conduct Occupational Therapy screenings according to established state and federal professional standards and proceduresComplete and written comprehensive diagnostic evaluations according to established state and federal professional standards and proceduresParticipate in multidisciplinary team conferences and planning sessions in order to meet the continuing needs of identified students or those at riskDevelop Individualized Education Programs for identified students.Provide Occupational Therapy services using a variety of service delivery models within a collaborative team to address fine motor needs of the studentComplete documentation through progress notes and quarterly reports that specify student progress on IEP goals and objectivesWork collaboratively with teachers and parents including parent / teacher conferences to ensure a unified approach to school-related issuesProvide training to teachers, parents, instructor assistants, and other related service personnel to ensure their effective contribution to a child's Individualized Education ProgramSupervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) if applicableServe on various district, school or Occupational Therapy staff committees as appropriateOther duties as assignedCritical Skills and Abilities :
Ability to possess and maintain licensure in the state of KansasAbility to speak clearly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright mannerPossess composition skills suitable for producing written communication for a variety of readersAbility to quickly analyze a situation and provide prompt adviceAbility to respond to informatio9n requests in a courteous, timely and helpful mannerAbility to perform job responsibilities using appropriate software on district computer system and communication equipmentAbility to manage job responsibilities while meeting established deadlinesAbility to work constructively and cooperatively with othersKnowledge and expertise in research based therapy and evaluation methodsKnowledge and experience of intervention based service delivery modelsKnowledge of federal and state legislationEvaluation : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation
