Position Description
Manhattan University is seeking enthusiastic and responsible STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Summer Day Camp Tutors to support our on-campus program serving children ages 5 to 10. Tutors will assist with hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics while helping create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
This role is ideal for education majors, graduate students, aspiring teachers, and individuals with experience in youth programs who are interested in STEAM education and child development.

Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead instructors with daily STEAM lessons and project-based learning activities
- Provide small group and individualized academic support
- Help prepare instructional materials and activity supplies
- Support classroom management and positive behavior reinforcement
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and designated activity periods
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times
- Maintain a professional, collaborative working relationship with camp staff
- Communicate effectively with the Summer STEAM Day Camp Coordinator regarding student needs and daily operations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one summer or one academic term of experience working as a tutor, camp counselor, or instructor in a summer or after-school program
- Experience working with children ages 5 to 10
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to stand and move throughout the day
- Ability to assist with light classroom setup and materials
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in education, engineering, science, psychology, or a related field
- Experience supporting STEAM or project-based learning programs
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain prior to start date
