Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assist in meal assembly according to established recipes, including techniques such as poaching, braising, grilling, and food production.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring all tools and appliances are maintained and sanitized regularly.
- Support the culinary team with food handling, portioning, and plating to meet quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dishes, and kitchen areas by adhering to food safety sanitizing procedures.
- Assist with menu planning support by preparing ingredients for upcoming service periods.
- Ensure compliance with food safety management protocols and food handling regulations at all times.
- Support catering events or high-volume production needs with timely meal preparation and setup.
Experience
- Previous experience in a food service environment such as a restaurant, catering operation, or dietary department is preferred.
- Familiarity with food safety procedures and sanitizing standards is essential.
- Experience with various cooking techniques including grilling, braising, poaching, and general food preparation is highly desirable.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of operating kitchen equipment are beneficial.
- Exposure to fine dining settings or high-volume kitchens will be an advantage.
- Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior dietary aide or dietary department experience can be a plus for understanding specialized meal requirements.
