Summary: The Contract Manager will be responsible and primarily focused on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating key contractual terms in customer agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and risk tolerance. This role requires expertise in contractual review, an aptitude for negotiation, and an overall ability to recognize and mitigate potential legal risks within the aftermarket turbomachinery business.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Drafting & Reviewing Documents: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating terms and conditions for sales contracts related to the supply of goods, repair, and service, as well as non-disclosure agreements.
Contract Negotiation: Conduct initial, direct negotiations on high-priority contractual terms with customers, focusing on key "must-have" provisions, redlining customer-proposed language, and advocating company positions before escalating to commercial attorneys for review.
Contract Management: Support in managing agreements, oversee contract lifecycles, maintain the contract database, and ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards. Monitor project pipeline to properly prioritize contract review. Track status of customer purchase orders to verify all related quotes and order confirmations are properly issued.
Documentation & Filing: Maintain and record legal documents, correspondence, and revisions in accordance with company policies.
Communication: Coordinate with internal departments (sales, engineering, HSE, etc.) to ensure proper alignment and understanding of terms and conditions within business objectives and internal requirements.
Support Commercial Team: Provide general administrative and contract management support to the commercial team as needed, including managing deadlines, assisting in contract negotiations, and preparing contract summaries.
Risk Management: Assist to identify potential legal risks and liabilities in the context of terms and conditions, advising internal stakeholders of key issues or discrepancies while ensuring compliance with internal policies.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Experience/Qualifications/Skills:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in contract review with a focus on redlining and customer facing discussions. Experience in contract law or working with technical agreements is a plus.
Familiarity with legal terminology and drafting sales contracts, specifically in technical or industrial fields, is an advantage.
Strong understanding of contract structures, especially as they apply to product sales and services.
Proven ability to negotiate directly with customers, defend key company positions, and resolve contractual disputes
Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in drafting and reviewing documents.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general technical experience with a contract management system.
Familiarity with turbomachinery or the industrial equipment industry is a plus but not required.
