What You’ll Do
As a Pre-Litigation Attorney, you will manage a portfolio of personal injury cases prior to filing a lawsuit, focusing on client advocacy, case evaluation, and settlement negotiation:
- Manage a high-volume caseload of personal injury claims from intake through settlement or referral to litigation
- Conduct client interviews and maintain consistent, professional communication
- Review and evaluate medical records, accident reports, and other evidence to assess liability and damages
- Develop case strategies and valuations based on evidence and applicable law
- Draft demand letters, settlement packages, and negotiate directly with insurance adjusters
- Collaborate with paralegals, case managers, and medical providers to ensure timely and thorough case development
- Prepare cases for litigation, including compiling documentation, drafting pre-suit pleadings, and coordinating file transition to litigation attorneys
- Ensure all case activity complies with firm policies, deadlines, and legal standards
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements within the pre-litigation department
What We’re Looking For
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Illinois
- 3 years of experience in personal injury law or insurance defense preferred
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
- Strong legal writing and research abilities
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment
- Client-centered approach with empathy, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with case management systems (e.g., SmartAdvocate preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
Working Conditions
- Full-time, in-office position (Monday–Friday)
- Occasional travel for client meetings, mediations, or depositions may be required
