What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Writer position at Malloy Electric?
Description:
A Service Writer/Estimator maintains accurate and on-time reports and evaluations relative to the service shop’s operation within the company. Assure that all changes related to work orders are posted properly and processed in a timely manner. Our service writers must conduct themselves in the presence of customers in a manner that promotes the image of our company.
Responsibilities:
- First point of customer contact regarding repair.
- Open work orders as directed and maintain control until closed and invoiced.
- Generate formal repair quotes for various bid jobs.
- Answer incoming customer calls, concerning incoming repairs, giving status updates on work orders, and explaining options available for repair or replacement.
- Maintain a high level of customer service by addressing all the customers concerns.
- Account for all material to be used in work order projects.
- Monitor back orders and machine work for timely repairs and meeting customer requirement dates.
- Notify shop of approved repair or replacement.
- Follow all guidelines set up in the service department.
- Coordinate with the shipping department for timely return of completed repairs and replacements.
- Operate forklift and/or hoist to unload or load customer's equipment to be worked on.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, 2-year technical degree preferred.
- Mechanical or electrical aptitude or related experience preferred.
- Basic math skills.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft products.
- Strong organizational, time management and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent email and phone etiquette, communication skills and customer service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and be safety minded.
- Ability to lift 50 LBS.
- Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
