Position Overview:

The Clinical Director of Assisted Living is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations and ensuring the highest quality of care for residents. This role involves managing the nursing staff, coordinating with healthcare providers, and implementing care plans that meet the individual needs of residents. The Clinical Director will also ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintain a safe and supportive environment for both residents and staff.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility of the community in the absence of the General Manager and send daily census in their absence.

  • Implement policies/procedures with follow-up and supervision of care team members to ensure compliance; work closely with Medical Director, Health Department, CDC, etc. to ensure current standard practices are in place; recommend to regional office changes in policies/ procedures as needed.

  • Assist in preparing budget for the department; administer approved budget.

  • Direct and delegate management of professional and ancillary nursing care team members.

  • Coordinate activities of various nursing units/wings promoting and maintaining harmonious relationships among nursing personnel and with medical staff, residents, community staff and the public; screen clients prior to admission to ensure the center can provide services.

  • Analyze and evaluate nursing and related services rendered to improve quality of resident care and plan better utilization of care team member time and activities.

  • Ensure positive outcomes are accomplished for residents; responsible to develop systems and work schedules that respect resident’s lifestyle and ensure the resident reaches the highest attainable level of functioning; make rounds at least daily; follow up daily on each shift to ensure changes in status are reported and recorded.

  • Ensure a Continuous Quality Improvement Program is in place and that appropriate follow-up occurs.

  • Ensure new care team members are effectively oriented; ensure an ongoing educational program is in place.

  • Develop goals and objectives for the department; motivate and manage care team members to accomplish the same.

  • Monitor daily labor hours with awareness of budgeted labor hours to maintain profitability.

  • Monitors and fills openings to ensure adequate staffing is maintained once monthly schedule is posted by General Manager.

  • Ensures medications are available to be dispensed as written by physician.

  • Ensure medical record documentation and that the care planning process is interdisciplinary, consistent, timely and reflective of resident needs and in compliance with regulations at all times; serve as Chairperson of Care Planning Committee.

  • Ensure medical services are provided as required by regulation and that the physician component of the medical record is complete.

  • As a member of the IDT team and to ensure the care and needs of our residents are met, you may be required to support our nursing care team members by working the floor (i.e. working a med cart, providing direct resident care, wound care, etc.) during critical staffing levels.

  • Determine and regularly monitor Medicare and level of care status to maximize revenue generation; monitor Medicare utilization closely to ensure program guidelines are followed; prepare all medical record documentation necessary to submit with Medicare billing.

  • Ensure safe working practices are developed and adhered to, and that care team members are knowledgeable in the use of equipment.

  • Communicate with families and residents when issues arise; handle complaints and provide education regarding care, as needed.

  • Ensure appropriate authority for care is documented, i.e., Living Will, Health Care Surrogate, etc.; maintain close communication with residents and families, community staff and health care professionals.

  • Ensure proper infection control techniques are utilized.

  • Maintain effective communication with residents and families, community staff and health care professionals.

  • Must demonstrate empathy, courteous, kind and professional workplace behavior and customer services to all residents, Care Team Members, vendors, visitors and family members at all times.

  • Attends all mandatory in-services; and completes timely all necessary Relias trainings scheduled to perform. Keeps abreast and/or discusses with supervisor or manager all necessary policies, procedures and business practices within the scope of the position held to effectively perform all duties assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.

  • Licensed as an LPN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.

  • Must hold an active CPR license or ability to obtain within the first 30-days of hire; CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment.

  • Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required.

  • Three year of nursing experience, of which one year in a long-term care environment.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in senior care.

  • Must have at least two years supervisory experience.
