Job Title: Locksmith II
Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt
Reports To: Foreman - Skilled Trades
Pay Grade: PG 3/260 Days
Dept./School: Maintenance
Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of new and existing mechanical and electronic locks.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Clear and valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Effective communication skills
Basic knowledge of lock repair, installation and maintenance
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to diagnose and repair problems
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to speak, read, and understand English
Experience:
None required
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Receive and complete work orders.
2. Install, repair, and maintain mechanical locks, including interior and exterior doors, file cabinets, desks, safes, and gates.
3. Maintain a systematic key inventory for the district.
4. Duplicate keys using key duplicating machine.
5. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
6. Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
7. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
8. Ensure that vehicle, equipment, and tools are in safe operating condition and perform preventive maintenance.
9. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

Equipment Used:
Hand tools, hand or electric drill, key coding machine, and key duplicating machine. Light truck or van.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Repetitive and precision hand motions. Bending, stooping, crouching, standing, frequent moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more). Exposure to temperature and humidity extremes. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Work around equipment with moving parts. Drive district vehicle.
