Maine State Credit Union is looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and motivated Accounting Specialist I to join our Accounting team. If you enjoy working with numbers, solving discrepancies, and ensuring financial accuracy, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while expanding your knowledge across a variety of accounting functions.
In this role, you'll be a key player in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Your work will have a direct impact on our daily operations and financial success.
Responsibilities include:
- Reconciling daily and monthly general ledger accounts
- Researching and resolving outstanding accounting items
- Preparing and maintaining supporting documentation
- Assisting with accounts payable processes and employee expense reporting
- Supporting month-end activities and financial reporting
- Collaborating with departments across the organization to resolve transaction issues
- Cross-training in other accounting functions and providing backup support as needed
We're seeking candidates who have both a passion for accounting and a strong foundation in accounting principles.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping fundamentals
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related experience
- Experience reconciling accounts and researching discrepancies
- Familiarity with general ledger activity and financial reporting processes
The pay range for this position is $20/hr-24/hr based on experience.
