Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused individual to join our optical team, no experience required. Opticians sell eyeglasses according to written optical prescriptions. Opticians recommend appropriate lens designs and material based on the patient’s prescription and needs. They advise patients on the best fit for a frame to match their face and prescription.
Educational Experience:
· High school diploma
· Encourage certification by ABO.
· Strong organization skills
· Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
Essential Skills and abilities:
· Excellent communication skills
· Strong telephone, and computer skills
· Attention to detail.
· Ability to work with eyeglass tools and small screws and nose pads.
· Ability to work well with others and work as a team.
Responsibilities:
· Provide patient education regarding lens designs, materials, and optical materials.
· Ability to transpose and read eyeglass prescriptions.
· Help patients with frame selection that best meet their prescription needs and face shape.
· Neutralize and inspect spectacle lenses that we receive from the optical lab.
· Frame adjustments.
· Insurance billing
· Design, arrange and maintain product displays.
· Monitor product optical inventory.
· Maintain job knowledge by continuing education courses.
· Notify patients when glasses are ready for pick up, and scheduling.
· Troubleshooting
· Meeting with frame representatives
· Answer telephone calls, ability to transfer calls to the appropriate department.
· Scanning lab invoice
· Communicate with the optical labs.
· Keep optical area clean ex. clean mirrors, desktops, floors, and shelving.
· Keep frame boards full.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
