Bargaining Unit/Salary Level: This is a full-time, in-person position located at our Center of Excellence in Manufacturing & Trades (CEMT) in Sanford, Maine. The position is pending classification and is anticipated to be classified at Level 4G, with a starting salary of $69,272 per year. A full benefits package is available in accordance with the Agreement between the MCCS Trustees and the MEA Administrators’ Unit.

 

SUMMARY

York County Community College (YCCC), a dynamic institution with a proud history of transforming lives and communities throughout York County, Maine, is seeking a technically skilled, highly organized, and collaborative Manufacturing & Trades Training Coordinator to support the development, delivery, and continued growth of manufacturing and skilled-trades training at YCCC's Center of Excellence in Manufacturing & Trades (CEMT) in Sanford.

This position combines direct technical instruction with program coordination, instructor support, student support, employer engagement, and laboratory operations. The successful candidate will teach manufacturing and technical training within their areas of expertise while coordinating high-quality short-term and customized training in areas such as machining, CNC operations, welding, manufacturing technology, quality assurance, safety, and related skilled trades.

The Manufacturing & Trades Training Coordinator position is a grant funded position and will terminate on September 11, 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery and coordination of manufacturing and skilled-trades training at CEMT. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Answering inquiry calls and emails related to the program

  • Provide direct, hands-on instruction in manufacturing, machining, CNC, welding, manufacturing technology, safety, quality, or other technical areas consistent with the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.

  • Develop engaging instructional materials, laboratory activities, and assessments; evaluate student progress and provide feedback, coaching, and remediation as needed.

  • Reinforce industry expectations for safety, attendance, reliability, teamwork, communication, quality, and professionalism.

  • Assist with the development, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of short-term manufacturing and skilled-trades training programs.

  • Coordinate training schedules, cohorts, instructors, laboratory spaces, equipment, and other resources necessary for successful program delivery.

  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and supporting adjunct and contract instructors and help ensure consistent, safe, high-quality instruction.

  • Support the safe and effective operation of CEMT manufacturing laboratories, including equipment readiness and maintenance and the availability of necessary tools, materials, and supplies.

  • Assist with purchasing equipment and supplies and coordinating with vendors for quotes, installation, service, and repairs.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with regional manufacturers, workforce partners, and community organizations and support employer visits, tours, demonstrations, customized training, and other industry engagement activities.

  • Support SBA grant-funded manufacturing initiatives, including maintaining required program records, collecting performance data, and assisting with documentation of grant outcomes and deliverables.

  • Represent YCCC and CEMT at relevant employer, workforce, and community events and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THE POSITION

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical, manufacturing, education, or workforce development field. Years of demonstrated professional experience in manufacturing or a related skilled-trades environment will be considered in lieu of a degree.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s Degree and 4-7 years related experience

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Ten or more years of relevant manufacturing or skilled-trades experience.

  • Experience in one or more technical areas such as CNC machining, manual machining, welding, manufacturing technology, pipefitting, quality assurance, industrial maintenance, automation, or related technologies.

  • Experience with manufacturing equipment and competencies such as HAAS CNC equipment, ProtoTRAK equipment, CNC programming, metrology, blueprint reading, technical mathematics, or related technologies.

  • Previous teaching, training, apprenticeship, or workforce-development experience, particularly working with adult learners.

  • Experience with employer-sponsored or customized workforce training, technical laboratory operations, equipment purchasing and maintenance, or grant-funded programs.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to students, instructors, employers, and other partners.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple programs, schedules, instructors, and priorities.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, employers, workforce partners, and community organizations.

  • Ability to adapt to changing workforce and industry needs while maintaining a positive, safety-focused, and student-centered approach.

  • Three to five years of supervisory or leadership experience is desirable.
