This role is responsible for managing insurance and patient accounts, ensuring timely payment posting, and actively working outstanding AR to maximize reimbursement.
The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and experienced in medical billing and collections - preferably within physical therapy or outpatient healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately and timely
- Work assigned AR queues, including follow-up on unpaid or underpaid claims
- Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, and discrepancies
- Submit corrected claims and appeals as needed
- Collaborate with internal teams (billing, front desk, clinic staff) to correct claim errors
- Ensure compliance with payer guidelines and company policies
- Maintain accurate documentation of all account activity
- 1–3 years of medical billing and AR experience (physical therapy preferred)
- Strong understanding of insurance claims, EOBs, and AR follow-up
- Knowledge of CPT codes and basic reimbursement processes
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Outpatient physical therapy or rehab billing experience
- Experience working with commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and workers’ comp claims
