The IT Analyst supports the hospital’s clinical, business, and technical applications to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations across all departments. Analysts are assigned primary focus areas (Clinical, Revenue Cycle, Ancillary, or Technical/Integration) while maintaining cross-functional knowledge to provide backup coverage. This role is responsible for application support, training, change management, regulatory reporting (including MIPS and interoperability requirements), and continuous improvement of hospital information systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Application Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide first-line and advanced support for assigned hospital applications and systems.
- Troubleshoot issues, resolve incidents, and coordinate with vendors when escalation is required.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical systems.
System Maintenance & Upgrades
- Develop, document, and execute test and user acceptance plans prior to system upgrades or new implementations.
- Participate in project planning and go-lives, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care and operations.
Training & Onboarding
- Develop and deliver training for new and existing users, tailored to varying skill levels.
- Provide role-based onboarding to ensure staff can navigate systems and workflows effectively.
Change Communication
- Track upcoming system or workflow changes and proactively communicate impacts to stakeholders.
- Coordinate discipline-specific education sessions for new features, upgrades, or process improvements.
Reporting & Analytics
- Develop and distribute operational, financial, and quality reports using available reporting tools.
- Support regulatory and quality reporting requirements, including MIPS and Promoting Interoperability.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work directly with end users to identify workflow gaps and opportunities for optimization.
- Partner with leadership and department managers to design and implement solutions that improve efficiency, compliance, and user satisfaction.
- Participate in cross-training and provide backup coverage for other IT Analysts as needed.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of patient and business data in compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
- Stay informed of CMS Quality Payment Program (QPP), MIPS, and Interoperability standards to maintain compliance and optimize performance.
- Stay informed of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to interoperability, quality reporting, and reimbursement.
- Associates Degree in Information Systems or related field or degree in clinical care (e.g., RN, PT, OT, etc.); Relevant work experience can replace traditional education requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with various contacts.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet completion deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and requirements.
- Ability to interact and train staff members with various levels of computer skills
- Ability to think logically through an issue to resolution
- 2 years of hospital application/clinical support
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field with at least two years experience.
- Familiarity with hospital systems and workflows.
