Staff Accountant – Individual Tax Experience
Location: Richmond, VA (Onsite)
Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 annually
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant with strong individual tax experience to join a growing team in Richmond, VA. This position is fully onsite and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment supporting both tax preparation and general accounting functions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual tax returns (primarily 1040s)
- Assist with tax planning and compliance activities
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain accurate financial records
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare journal entries and financial reports
- Communicate with clients regarding tax documentation and accounting inquiries
- Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations
- Assist with bookkeeping and additional accounting projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- 4 years of accounting and individual tax preparation experience
- Strong knowledge of 1040 tax returns
- Experience with accounting and tax software preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and client service abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to business tax returns (1120s, 1065s) is a plus
- Public accounting or CPA firm experience preferred
