Position Summary
The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager supports the overall operation of Madison’s Food & Beverage outlets, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and consistent adherence to service standards. This role plays a key part in daily service execution, staff leadership, financial accountability, and the ongoing development and innovation of the department. The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will report to the Assistant Restaurant Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Support achievement of budgeted food, beverage, and labor cost targets
- Oversee annual and quarterly inventory processes and ensure timely submission of budget requests
- Complete and supervise payroll and tip distribution accurately and on schedule
- Ensure proper purchasing, requisitioning, and inventory control procedures are followed
- Oversee set-up and execution of all meal periods to ensure consistency and quality
- Conduct detailed inspections of table settings, linens, china, glassware, silverware, and condiments
- Remain present on the floor during service, engaging with guests and addressing concerns proactively
- Respond efficiently to last-minute changes and service needs
- Handle guest complaints professionally, resolving issues to the highest level of satisfaction
- Schedule staff to maintain appropriate coverage and service levels
- Manage staff training, onboarding, and ongoing development
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of department training manuals and SOPs
- Maintain composure and leadership presence in high-pressure service environments
- Enforce hotel bar control policies in accordance with state and local regulations
- Coordinate cleanliness and organization of dining rooms, public areas, kitchens, storage areas, and entrances
- Support the development and maintenance of departmental control procedures
- Liaise regularly with the Assistant Restaurant Operations Manager to ensure guest needs and operational priorities are met
- Work closely with culinary, housekeeping, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery
- Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Management, or related field preferred
- Prior supervisory or management experience in Food & Beverage preferred
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations and service standards
- Excellent communication and guest-relation skills
- Ability to lead and collaborate within a large team environment
- Proven ability to remain calm, objective, and solution-oriented under pressure
