What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal – Infrastructure Credit (North America) position at Madison Hunt?
Overview
We are working with a leading global investment firm on the continued build-out of its Infrastructure Credit platform following a successful fundraising momentum. The strategy focuses on investing across the capital structure, including sub-investment grade, mezzanine, and structured/bespoke financings, with a primary focus on North American infrastructure assets.
The team is in active deployment mode across a broad opportunity set and is looking to add a Principal to help lead execution and support the scaling of the platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of infrastructure credit investments, including underwriting, structuring, negotiation, and closing
- Evaluate and invest across sub-IG, mezzanine, and structured/bespoke opportunities, often involving complex, multi-tranche capital solutions
- Develop and refine sector theses across key infrastructure verticals (energy, power, renewables, transport, digital), contributing to deployment of significant capital
- Drive full diligence processes, coordinating advisors and managing multiple parallel workstreams in a high-volume environment
- Prepare and present investment committee materials, playing a key role in investment decision-making
- Support origination efforts, building relationships with sponsors, banks, and intermediaries to drive proprietary and off-market opportunities
- Actively manage and monitor a growing portfolio of investments, overseeing performance and risk
- Mentor and oversee Associates/Senior Associates, with responsibility for workflow management and development
Qualifications
- 7–12 years of experience across infrastructure credit, private credit, leveraged finance, or related investing roles
- Track record of leading transactions and deploying capital across multiple deals
- Experience across different parts of the capital structure, including sub-investment grade and structured credit
- Strong financial modeling, structuring, and credit underwriting capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a high-throughput, deal-oriented environment
- Deep sector familiarity across infrastructure verticals is preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders and investment committees
