What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment Associate - Power/Energy Transition position at Madison Hunt?
Madison Hunt is partnered with a leading investment firm, specifically within its newly established, dedicated energy strategy. The team is hiring an Associate or Senior Associate to focus on investments in the decarbonization of assets within the conventional power and midstream sectors, as well as energy retail. It’s a new, entrepreneurial platform within a well-established decarbonization-focused firm - a small, highly cohesive team with decades of shared experience across energy and infrastructure.
About the strategy:
- Targets the decarbonization of existing, commissioned assets rather than speculative greenfield developments
- Acquires and operates power generation, biofuels production, and fuel distribution businesses, applying practical low-carbon technologies and operational improvements
- Focuses on cash-flow-generating assets with realistic, economically viable decarbonization pathways and low technology risk
- Invests primarily in North America, with an eye toward dislocation opportunities across the conventional energy value chain
Qualifications:
- 2 years of investment banking and/or private equity experience
- Relevant sector experience in infrastructure; power and/or regulated utility experience strongly preferred
- Based in Houston or willing to relocate
- Strong financial modeling skills; knowledge of power markets and rate-based modeling is a plus
