Quality Assurance / Quality Control Specialist, HUD-VASH
Location: Los Angeles, CA preferred. Remote within California, Washington, DC, or Maryland is acceptable.
Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Reports To: Program Manager
Pay: Depends on location and experience but $26/hr. minimum
About the Role
MASS is hiring a detail-focused QA/QC Specialist to review HUD-VASH clinical and case management documentation for completeness, clarity, and required follow ups. You will scan case notes and tracking logs, verify that veterans’ needs are documented and addressed, and communicate gaps to the assigned case manager and the Program Manager for timely resolution.

What You Will Do
- Review clinical notes, service plans, contact logs, and related records for completeness and accuracy
- Check for required elements, initial assessments, visit frequency, follow ups after identified needs, referrals, outcomes, and timely documentation
- Track open items and due dates, create clear summaries of what is missing, and send action requests to the case manager and the Program Manager
- Verify that risks, safety plans, and escalations are documented and updated as required
- Monitor timeliness and documentation quality against program standards, maintain a simple dashboard for trends and rework
- Support internal audits and file readiness checks ahead of monitoring or site reviews
- Maintain strict privacy and security of protected information in line with HIPAA and VA requirements
- Participate in brief huddles with the Program Manager to close gaps and reduce repeat errors
- Contribute to continuous improvement, update checklists and templates as standards evolve
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail, consistent follow through, and comfort working from checklists
- Clear written communication that is concise and constructive
- Basic proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets, and comfort learning documentation systems
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in HUD-VASH, homeless services, behavioral health, social work, or medical records QA
- Familiarity with documentation standards, care coordination workflows, or utilization review
- Experience with EHR or case management systems
- Experience working within structured, repetitive review processes
- Preferred, not required.
Work Location and Hours
Local to Los Angeles preferred for periodic on-site collaboration
Remote applicants must reside in California, Washington, DC, or Maryland
(8AM-4:30PM PCT), occasional travel to Culver City CA office.
