Full Time, 10 Months

Start Date: August 2026

Maclay School seeks a thoughtful, student-centered educator to teach Sixth Grade Science and Social Studies as part of our Sixth Grade Academy, a program designed to support students during the important transition from lower to middle school. This role combines earth and space science with world geography in an integrated course that helps students explore how physical systems and human societies shape the world around them.

The ideal candidate is energized by inquiry-driven learning and enjoys helping students investigate big questions about our planet. This teacher will inspire curiosity about the natural world and human cultures while helping students develop the habits of mind of scientists and geographers, including observation, analysis, evidence-based reasoning, and problem solving.

You bring structure, warmth, and intellectual energy to the classroom. You understand that sixth graders are at an important developmental moment, growing in independence while still needing guidance and support. You help students build confidence as thinkers and collaborators while cultivating a classroom environment where curiosity, creativity, and respectful dialogue thrive.

You also value collaboration and reflection.
