What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laser Operator position at Mack Hils Metal Fabrication and Machining?
Summary
Candidates who possess a will to learn how to operate various kinds of equipment, an aptitude to develop a skilled trade, impeccable attendance and an attitude to succeed! Operator will receive orders and use laser programs to complete jobs. Requires knowledge of programming modes and maintenance of laser machine. Knowledge and use of calipers, measuring tape, steel inventory, grinder, and forklift.
Essential Functions
This list may include but not limited to and is subject to change based on role.
· Receive job packets for production part orders.
· Use forklift to locate and load raw material (steel) from inventory.
· Load/unload raw material, specific to job packet, onto laser machine; parts up to 100lb.
· Program machine to produce part per job packet.
· Punch out parts from steel sheet.
· Grind rough edges of parts when necessary.
· Stack finished part on skids and/or in boxes to ready for next operation.
· Move finished part to next area of production.
· Maintenance of scrap barrels.
· Shut down machine using proper safety procedures.
· Maintain machines after each production run.
· Ensure shop cleanliness in each department area.
Required Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
- Ability to operate computer
- Knowledge of steel types (stainless, cold rolled) and location of these raw materials in inventory
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS Sheets, blueprints, maintenance instructions, and job packets/procedures.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

· Regularly required to lift, push or pull weight and/or carry objects weighing 5-60 pounds.

Pay: $16.00 - $30.00 per hour
