Machine Tool Research is seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management for commercial components used in large machine tool rebuild and retrofit projects.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials are available, cost-effective, and aligned with production needs—working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to keep projects moving.

As a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company, every employee-owner contributes directly to the company’s success and long-term value.

Are You…

• A procurement or purchasing professional who enjoys negotiating, sourcing, and building strong supplier relationships?

• Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and vendor communications?

• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment where no two projects are exactly the same?

• Someone who takes ownership of cost control, material availability, and process improvement?

• Known for your attention to detail and ability to follow through?

If so, you might be the Procurement Specialist we’re looking for.

What’s in it for You?

Employee Ownership – Join a 100% employee-owned company where your decisions directly impact our shared success.

Impactful Work – Play a key role in keeping complex machine rebuild and retrofit projects on track.

Variety & Challenge – Source a wide range of components and materials across unique, non-repetitive projects.

Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams.

Continuous Improvement – Help refine procurement processes, supplier strategies, and cost efficiencies.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies to identify reliable, cost-effective suppliers.

• Issue RFQs, evaluate quotes, and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.

• Create and manage purchase orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials.

• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, responsiveness, and cost control.

• Coordinate material purchases to support production schedules and project timelines.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support strategic purchasing initiatives.

• Track and follow up on open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and compliance.

• Work closely with internal teams to ensure materials meet project specifications and quality requirements.

• Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier data, and inventory visibility.

• Stay informed on market conditions, supplier capabilities, and pricing trends.

These responsibilities align with sourcing, supplier management, and ensuring timely procurement of materials critical to production.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience accepted.

• 5–7 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.

• Proven ability to negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements.

• Experience working with ERP systems (Syteline preferred), Microsoft Office, and/or Google Workspace.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both suppliers and internal teams.

• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy, cost control, and follow-through.

• Continuous improvement mindset and ownership mentality.
