Golden Barrel Products - Quality Control Technician

Essential Job Functions:

• Performs daily start-up line audits to ensure that the correct ingredients are being used. Also responsible for verification of correct packaging materials, printer information, finished product weights, and HACCP monitoring.
• Verification of equipment sanitation through the use of ATP bioluminescence.
• Conduct environmental, raw material, and finished product microbial sampling and testing.
• Sanitation audits, which include scrutinizing areas of the plant (e.g. warehouse, production lines, etc.) to evaluate overall cleanliness, GMPs, food safety practices, and employee habits.
• Maintain documentation of raw material and finished product information for product traceability purposes.
• Inspect and sample incoming raw materials and packaging materials. Maintain calibration of laboratory and processing instruments and corresponding documentation.
• Physical and analytical testing of incoming raw materials and finished product for color, odor, granulation, foreign material, moisture, pH, brix, and % invert, etc.
• Evaluate compliance of finished products to specifications and complete product COAs for customer orders.
• Maintaining accurate and complete records of all individual data generated in the lab.
• Maintain and organize retain sample and lab supply storage areas.
• Clean work area, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Associates Degree in a general science or food science field preferred.
• Experience in a lab environment is preferred
• Experience in food facility GMPs, QC, food safety, &sanitation preferred

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and propose corrective actions to promote continuous improvement.

• pH Meter
• Moisture Oven
• Refractometer
• Sieve Shaker
• Analytical Balance
• Saccharimeter (polarimeter)
• ATP Bioluminescence
• Spectrophotometer

Typical Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Typical Mental Demands:

• Ability to work under stress with interruptions and deadlines
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
• Ability to master intermediate math skills
• Ability to think logically in following procedures and instructions

Working Environment:

• Standard eight (8) hour workdays Monday through Friday and as necessary to complete the requirements of the position. Overtime as may be required as needed.

Offered compensation: $19.50/hr
