Established Fashion Accessories company seeks an Assistant Fashion Designer to join the team. The ideal candidate is a creative individual who welcomes the opportunity to work independently and embrace change as the company grows and develops.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
*Work on product design process including, sketching, CAD designs, and creating tech packs for development
*Research and spot trends and research fashion shows and competitive markets to contribute to the right product for the brand
*Make CADs and other supporting materials for presentations and sales meetings. STRONG CAD SKILLS ARE A MUST
*Update line sheets and catalogs for sales staff
*Assist in reviewing development samples, salesman samples and fit samples
*Manage and track sales samples and development process
*Organize and record all styles, research, reference garments, trim, etc.
*Maintain sample, trim, fabric and color libraries
*Communicate regularly with product management to share line development direction.
*Assist production with lab dip, strike off & trim submits, and fit review
*Communicate on a daily basis with overseas factories
Qualifications:
*Bachelor's degree in fashion design or related field required.
*At least 1 year of industry experience.
*Ability to create Technical Packages and possesses a strong technical knowledge of fully fashioned garments is preferred
*Knowledge of yarns, gauges, trends and fit is preferred as well as understanding of product development life cycle
*Strong color sense and print sense
*Strong computer skills -- Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator software
*Strong work ethic, highly motivated, ability and desire to learn quickly
*Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously in order to help meet team deadlines
*Team player with strong interpersonal skills
*Extremely responsible and punctual
