Position Summary


The Lycée Français de New York, a world-leading independent bilingual French K-12 educational institution, recognizes the strategic role of technology and integrated information systems & data in informing, assessing, advancing the school's core educational objectives, and in enabling a strong financial and operational foundation.


The Lycée Français de New York is seeking an exempt, full-time Systems & Network Engineer, reporting to the Chief Information and Data Officer, whose role is to ensure the reliability, security, and operational excellence of the school’s technology infrastructure and services. The Systems & Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the institution’s network, systems, cloud platforms, cybersecurity posture, and end-user technology environment, while contributing to the continuous improvement of IT operations, processes, and service delivery across the school community.


Daily operations and projects will require close collaboration and coordination with the Senior Systems Administrator and the Senior Data & Cybersecurity Engineer to support the school’s evolving technology and security needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Systems & Network Engineer's responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

Infrastructure and High availability

  • Collaborate with the Senior Systems Administrator in managing and maintaining the school’s network infrastructure, wireless systems, servers, cloud environments, and storage platforms.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of critical systems and services supporting academic and administrative operations.
  • Oversee system monitoring, maintenance, and operational health processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, connectivity, and systems issues.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation for infrastructure, systems configurations, and network environments.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, upgrades, deployments, and technology projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed to support operational continuity and infrastructure improvements.


Cybersecurity & Data Protection

  • Collaborate with the Senior Data & Cybersecurity Engineer in supporting and advancing the school’s cybersecurity strategy, policies, and operational practices.
  • Administer identity and access management systems, including permissions and multi-factor authentication.
  • Monitor systems and networks for vulnerabilities, suspicious activity, and operational risks.
  • Manage endpoint protection, security patching, and remediation efforts.
  • Contribute to incident response, recovery procedures, and operational resilience initiatives.
  • Promote cybersecurity awareness and responsible technology use across the school community.
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements, tools, and best practices.


IT Operations & User Support

  • Contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of IT services, infrastructure operations, and user support across the school community.
  • Provide technical support and assist the Senior Systems Administrator in resolving critical systems, network, and infrastructure incidents.
  • Support escalated help desk requests and ensure timely, effective service for staff and students.
  • Assist in maintaining IT procedures, operational documentation, system standards, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Support onboarding, offboarding, and account provisioning processes for employees and students.
  • Collaborate with technology team members, school leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners on operational initiatives and technology projects.
  • Participate in the implementation of IT standards, workflows, best practices, and department projects while promoting a responsive, service-oriented approach to technology support.

Education, Certification, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems, infrastructure, or network administration.
  • Experience supporting network infrastructure, systems operations, cloud platforms, and end-user services.
  • Experience participating in infrastructure deployments, operational support, or technology projects.
  • Relevant systems, networking, or cybersecurity certifications are a plus.
  • Experience working in an educational and multicultural environment is preferred.


Working Conditions

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and interruptions in a dynamic school environment.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
  • Comfortable supporting adults and students within an educational and service-oriented environment.


Annual Salary Range: $100,000-$120,000
