To conduct Workers’ Compensation premium audits by investigating, examining, and reporting on financial and operational characteristics of policyholder’s business operations in order to accurately determine final earned premium. This is an entry-level premium audit position. The intent of this position is to provide a two to three-year training program to gain practical workers’ compensation premium audit and underwriting experience.

Overview
To conduct Workers’ Compensation premium audits by investigating, examining, and reporting on financial and operational characteristics of policyholder’s business operations in order to accurately determine final earned premium. This is an entry-level premium audit position. The intent of this position is to provide a two to three-year training program to gain practical workers’ compensation premium audit and underwriting experience.
Major Areas of Accountability
- Conduct thorough analysis of policyholders’ business records to determine premium base exposures per terms of policy contract, manual rules, and procedures.
- Track due dates of audits and ensure completion in a timely manner. If working in the field, will need to balance workload and itinerary planning.
- Comply with NCCI regulations and company guidelines and maintain working knowledge of relevant insurance manuals and related material.
- Consult with policyholders and agents to ensure understanding of the premium audit process and how exposures are classified and rated for premium basis.
- Maintain favorable relationships with agents and policyholders through superior customer service.
- Communicate with other internal business units to identify and monitor fraud and problem accounts.

- Ability to plan and perform a wide variety of duties involving the assembly, organization, and evaluation of diverse types of information.

- Technical Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of insurance coverage, auditing techniques, and Workers’ Compensation insurance classifications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
- Decision Authority
- Determine exposure and proper classification of business operations based on interpretation and logical application of manual rules.
- A CPCU or Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 1 year of workers’ compensation premium audit or underwriting experience preferred. CPCU and/or APA preferred.
- OR High School Diploma with a minimum of 4 years workers’ compensation premium audit experience.
- Underwriting experience may be considered with demonstrated competencies in NCCI rules and classifications.
