The Opportunity
The team is seeking an early-career Transmission Planning Engineer to support system studies, long-term transmission planning, and reliability assessments. This role will contribute to both project development efforts and ongoing system operations across multiple U.S. markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct power system studies including load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis
- Support advanced modeling efforts such as electromagnetic transient and economic/production cost simulations
- Identify transmission constraints and recommend solutions to improve system reliability and efficiency
- Review and interpret interconnection and transmission studies completed by utilities and third-party consultants
- Assist with interconnection processes for new generation resources across various ISO/RTO markets
- Contribute to regulatory and compliance-related activities tied to transmission operations
- Provide technical input for project development, acquisitions, and grid expansion initiatives
- Engage with industry groups, technical committees, and working groups as needed
- Stay current on regulatory developments and evolving market structures impacting transmission planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems
- Strong understanding of power system analysis fundamentals
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Clear communication and strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and collaborative mindset
Preferred Background
- Advanced degree with concentration in power systems engineering
- Exposure to industry-standard tools such as PSS®E, PowerWorld, PSLF, or similar platforms through academic or professional experience
- Interest in transmission planning, interconnection studies, or grid modeling work
