The role

Our client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to lead building projects from concept through construction closeout. This is a senior-level position that blends technical design expertise with project leadership and client management responsibilities. You will work across a variety of structural systems - steel, concrete, wood, and masonry - and bring hands-on experience with existing building evaluations, renovation projects, and seismic upgrades.

In addition to delivering high-quality engineering, you will play a meaningful role in mentoring early-career engineers and nurturing the long-term client relationships that underpin the firm's continued growth in the region.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead structural engineering projects through all phases, from early planning through final construction closeout
  • Collaborate with architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other design disciplines to develop integrated structural solutions
  • Direct and coordinate the production of engineering calculations, analyses, and construction documents
  • Support business development through proposal writing, scope definition, fee preparation, and contract documentation
  • Forecast workflow and manage project schedules across the engineering team
  • Mentor junior engineers and BIM designers through design development and documentation phases
  • Conduct and oversee site visits, construction observations, and progress reporting
  • Review shop drawings and submittals and provide timely engineering responses during construction
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients and build strong, lasting professional relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited programme
  • Master's degree in structural engineering preferred
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) licence required
  • Structural Engineering (SE) licence strongly preferred
  • 4 years of relevant structural design experience in buildings
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA (or equivalent) and BIM tools including Revit
  • Strong knowledge of load calculations, structural analysis methods, and applicable building codes
  • Prior experience in a project engineer or project management capacity is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present to clients and project teams
