Job Description
Position Title: CAD Designer / CAD Technician
Location: Canton, OH
Employment Type: Full-Time
The CAD Designer / CAD Technician is responsible for preparing and modifying detailed technical drawings and plan sets to support civil engineering projects. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and design staff to produce accurate construction documents for transportation, municipal, land development, and utility projects.
- Prepare, revise, and manage CAD drawings for civil engineering projects including roadway, site development, stormwater, water, and wastewater systems
- Develop plan sheets, profiles, cross-sections, and details in accordance with project standards
- Convert sketches, redlines, survey data, and engineer markups into detailed construction drawings
- Coordinate across disciplines to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and consistent
- Maintain CAD files, drawings, and project documentation in accordance with company standards
- Assist with layout calculations, quantity takeoffs, and basic design tasks as directed
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal design standards and client requirements
- Support project managers by meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality deliverables
- Associate degree or certification in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2 years of CAD design or drafting experience in a civil engineering or infrastructure environment
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of civil drafting standards and plan production workflows
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and survey data
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Experience with transportation, municipal, or utility infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with Ohio DOT or municipal standards
- Experience with surfaces, alignments, corridors, and pipe networks in Civil 3D
- Knowledge of electronic plan submission standards and document control practices
- Office-based position with occasional coordination with field or survey staff
- Standard work hours with potential overtime to meet project deadlines
- Collaborative team-oriented environment
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
Salary : $55,000 - $75,000
