Summary Performs financial counseling, A/R review, interdepartmental communication, staff education, provider schedule maintenance, and computer/insurance informational support to ensure excellent guest relations. Assists in appointment scheduling, check-in, check-out, and surgery scheduling as needed to support departmental needs. Job Duties Assists patients with pre or post service payment arrangement processes according to established guidelines. Supports front office staff and nursing staff with insurance, billing questions, and troubleshooting. Assists with front office coverage, including but not limited to, front desk duties, answering incoming phone calls, checking in vendors, and visitors. Participates in provider education regarding appropriate billing, coding, and documentation guidelines. Performs financial counseling for patients and families. Coordinates coding compliance for new/existing procedures. Serves as a resource regarding billing and insurance matters for staff, hospital departments, vendors, and insurance carriers. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED 1 year Computerized physician billing experience. Ability to interact with patients, peers, and professional colleagues and demonstrate customer service, communication skills, and ability to handle stress. Basic computer skills. Demonstrates knowledge of regulations of the registration policy. Demonstrates ability to work with interruptions and changing priorities in an busy work environment. Demonstrates familiarity with referrals and authorization procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of physician office practice and medical terminology. Familiarity with all aspects of coding, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPC's. Technological literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree Physical Demands Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
