Lead Critical Transportation Construction Projects Across Florida
DRMP is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer – CEI to provide technical leadership, project oversight, and construction administration expertise on major transportation infrastructure projects throughout Florida.
This opportunity is ideal for a Florida Professional Engineer who enjoys being involved in the field, leading project teams, solving complex construction challenges, and ensuring the successful delivery of roadway, bridge, and transportation projects. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource for construction engineering and inspection efforts while helping guide inspectors, project administrators, and engineering staff throughout all phases of project execution.
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining project quality, ensuring contract compliance, supporting client relationships, and helping deliver some of Florida's most important transportation improvements.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Construction Oversight
Manage day-to-day CEI project operations to ensure compliance with contract requirements, plans, specifications, governing regulations, and safety standards
Monitor contractor performance and construction progress
Ensure successful execution of roadway, bridge, and transportation construction projects
Coordinate project activities with contractors, owners, utility providers, and stakeholders
Lead project meetings and facilitate issue resolution
Technical Engineering Responsibilities
Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
Provide technical guidance to inspectors and project staff
Review and evaluate contractor submittals, RFIs, CPM schedules, and change requests
Analyze construction issues and develop recommendations for resolution
Review claim packages and support contract administration efforts
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure compliance with FDOT requirements, CPAM standards, and project specifications
Oversee CEI documentation, materials certifications, testing records, and project correspondence
Maintain project records and reporting requirements
Support quality assurance and risk management initiatives
Financial & Operational Management
Manage project budgets and labor utilization
Track project performance and forecasting
Support resource planning and workload management
Assist with project profitability and operational efficiency
Team Development & Client Relations
Mentor CEI staff, inspectors, and junior engineers
Foster professional growth and technical development
Build and maintain strong relationships with FDOT personnel and project stakeholders
Participate in project pursuits and business development activities
Identify future project opportunities and support client growth initiatives
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
Licensure
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Florida PE preferred
Candidates licensed in another state must be able to obtain Florida PE registration within six months
Experience
Minimum 6 years of engineering experience
Minimum 2 years of experience on major roadway or bridge construction projects
Previous CEI or Construction Administration experience strongly preferred
Experience managing project teams and coordinating with contractors and owners
Required Certifications & Training
Candidates should possess or be able to obtain:
FDOT Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
CTQP Quality Control Manager Certification
Critical Structures Construction Issues Course Completion
Strong understanding of FDOT Construction Project Administration Manual (CPAM)

Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary
$115,000 – $185,000 annually
Exceptional candidates with significant FDOT construction leadership experience, CEI management responsibilities, or Design-Build transportation project experience may exceed the posted range.
Sign-On Bonus
$5,000 – $10,000
Sign-on assistance will be determined based on experience, certifications, project leadership history, and relocation requirements.
