The Analyst position fills a critical initial step in the underwriting of commercial and multi-family properties to determine whether a property can be refinanced or if it is viable for an acquisition loan. The position is structured to work with the senior analyst, commercial and multi-family mortgage loan originators, their clients, and third-party providers to analyze properties for real estate financing.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze, underwrite, and prepare loan request packages for commercial real estate transactions for distribution to potential lenders.
- Learn and apply knowledge to underwrite the various property types and lender requirements.
- Assist Mortgage Brokers in various parts of a transaction, and/or potential transactions, from initial receipt of property related information to closing.
- Assist with site visits for appraisals, environmental, engineering, and other various events.
- Understand the entire process of a loan transaction and its associated documents, including but not limited to (Loan Applications, Letters of Intent, Commitment Letters, Closing Documents, and more).
Daily Activities:
- Work directly with mortgage brokers, clients, and senior analyst to accumulate business information based on loan requests.
- Create comprehensive underwriting packages that are forwarded to potential lenders for review and consideration.
- Assist in the preparation of additional background information required by lenders. Such information may include loan summary, management history, borrower background, major tenant write-ups and an analysis of competing developments and demographics for the neighborhood.
- Maintain updated underwriting guidelines of various lenders and effectively communicate them with originators.
- Develop an estimate of potential loan amounts based on market terms and conditions.
- Establish and maintain professional business files and documents required during the loan process.
- Prepare matrices outlining the loan parameters as quoted by the various lenders.
- Assist with the coordination of third-party reports required for loan processing such as appraisal, environmental, and engineering reports.
- Coordinate property inspections and site visits for other related third parties.
