Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI (LSS) is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor - In Training (SAC-IT) to join our dedicated team in Janesville, WI. This role focuses on group therapy for individuals navigating substance use disorder and supporting their recovery journey. You'll work with referrals from Rock County, the Department of Corrections, and self-referrals.
- Facilitate curriculumbased psychoeducation groups
- Complete intake, screening, and assessment tools (with supervision as required)
- Provide addiction counseling and basic case management services
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with state, federal, and agency standards
- Coordinate services with internal teams and external partners
- Participate in supervision, training, and staff meetings
- Associate degree or higher in human services or related field
- Valid WI credential: SACIT, SAC, or CSAC
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery principles, and case management
- Experience with correctional populations preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse populations
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
