Position Summary

This position is responsible for the overall security and wellbeing of the entire Luna Community College

main campus. This role combines traditional security duties with heavy emphasis on community policing,

student interaction, de-escalation, and creating a welcoming environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols of campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds.
• Monitor access to facilities and ensure doors, windows, and alarms are secured.
• Respond to calls for service, including disturbances, medical emergencies, safety hazards, and
  
  

facility issues.

• Enforce college policies, parking regulations, and student conduct rules in a fair and respectful
  
  

manner.

• Provide customer service such as giving directions, escorting individuals, and supporting campus
  
  

events.

• Prepares incident reports. Monitor CCTV and card access systems; investigate door-propped or
  
  

forced-entry alarms.

• Observe and report suspicious behavior or conditions to prevent theft, vandalism, or safety risks.
• Operate security systems, radios, surveillance equipment, and access-control systems.
• Participate in safety training, drills, and professional development sessions.
• Assists Life Safety Manager and Security Supervisor in coordinating safety programs and ensuring campus safety programs across departments

Education And Experience

• High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required.
• At least one year of security guard experience is required.
• At least one year of supervisory experience is required.
• Experience in community policing or customer-service-oriented security roles.
