Job Summary:The Construction Quality Control Technician supports nationwide telecommunications construction projects by verifying that Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.This role focuses on field quality inspections, documentation review, issue identification, and coordination with construction crews and supervisors to ensure work is completed right the first time. The QC Tech serves as a critical link between field execution and project closeout—helping prevent rework, delays, and compliance issues while supporting on-time, high-quality delivery of telecom infrastructure.Success in this position is measured by inspection accuracy, reduction of rework, safety compliance, timely reporting, and effective communication with construction leadership.Key Metrics:Quality compliance: accuracy of inspections; adherence to OSP/ISP standards, prints, and scopesRework reduction: identification of deficiencies before final acceptanceSafety adherence: consistent enforcement of safety standards and field awarenessTimeliness: inspections and reports completed within required timeframesDocumentation accuracy: clear, complete QC reports and photo recordsCollaboration: effective coordination with field crews, supervisors, and project teamsCore Responsibilities:Field Quality Inspections (OSP & ISP)Perform on-site quality inspections of telecommunications construction work, including:O Buried and aerial OSP installationsO Conduit, handholes, vaults, and fiber placementO ISP pathways, terminations, and support infrastructure (as applicable)Verify work complies with project plans, specifications, and standard construction practicesIdentify defects, incomplete work, or safety concerns and document findings2. Documentation & ReportingComplete QC checklists, inspection reports, and photo documentationClearly document deficiencies, required corrections, and pass/fail statusTrack QC findings through resolution and re-inspectionSupport project closeout documentation and acceptance processes3. Safety & Compliance OversightObserve field activities to ensure compliance with OSHA, company, and site-specific safety requirementsVerify proper PPE usage, trench safety, traffic control, and general job-site safety practicesEscalate safety concerns immediately when observed4. Coordination & CommunicationCommunicate inspection results clearly to supervisors, foremen, and project managersCoordinate re-inspection timelines and corrective actions with construction teamsServe as a field liaison between quality, construction, and project management teams5. Travel & Field PresenceTravel nationwide as required to support active construction projectsWork scheduled shifts (8-, 10-, or 12-hour days) based on project needsOperate effectively in changing environments, weather conditions, and job sitesKey Responsibilities:Ensure telecom construction work meets design, safety, and quality standards by verifying compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable OSP/ISP construction requirements.Identify quality and safety issues early and document findings clearly through detailed inspection reporting, photo evidence, and communication of corrective actions to field leadership.Support efficient project progress by reducing rework and QC-related delays through proactive inspections, timely deficiency tracking, and follow-up verification of corrections.Maintain accurate inspection and documentation records to support project closeout, billing readiness, audit compliance, and client acceptance requirements.Assist in delivering reliable telecommunications infrastructure to end users by confirming installations are completed correctly, safely, and to specification prior to final approval.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentBaseline understanding of telecommunications construction, including OSP and/or ISP workAbility to read and interpret basic construction prints, scopes, and QC requirementsValid driver’s license and ability to travel 100%Comfortable working outdoors and on active construction sitesStrong attention to detail and documentation accuracyPreferred Qualifications:Previous experience in telecom QC, construction inspection, or field supervisionExperience with fiber optic, buried wire, utility, or infrastructure projectsFamiliarity with telecom standards, specs, and typical failure pointsOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationExperience using mobile devices or software for QC documentationKey Skills: Quality mindset: identifies issues before they become reworkAttention to detail: accurate inspections and reportingTelecom knowledge: practical understanding of OSP/ISP construction practicesCommunication: clear, professional interaction with field and management teamsOrganization: manages multiple inspections and follow-ups across job sitesReliability: consistent attendance, travel readiness, and follow-throughSafety awareness: proactive identification of hazardsPhysical and Mental Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in awkward or confined positions for extended periods.Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, and materials on active construction sites.Ability to climb ladders, enter manholes or vaults, and work at heights on scaffolding, lifts, or poles as required by the project.Ability to use hands and arms for handling, reaching, grasping, operating power tools, and performing repetitive motions.Adequate vision to read plans, labels, safety signs, and to safely navigate job sites with moving equipment and uneven terrain.Adequate hearing to communicate with team members and respond to job-site warnings or equipment signals in high-noise environments.Mental focus and situational awareness necessary to safely perform tasks around heavy equipment, energized systems, or hazardous conditions.Ability to manage and track multiple work activities, tasks, and changing project conditions in a dynamic construction environment.Physical Exertion:Frequently exerts 50–75 pounds of force to lift, carry, move, or position materials, tools, and equipment;
