Equipment Operators must be adaptable to varying jobsite conditions, work effectively in diverse weather, and stay committed to both safety and quality. This position is hands-on, requiring mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a readiness to contribute wherever needed to keep projects on track.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL strongly preferred but not required).
Reliable smartphone with service from a major carrier (for jobsite communication, scheduling, and reporting).
OSHA 30-hour safety training (or willingness to obtain).
Proven experience operating horizontal boring machines or similar drilling equipment.
Ability to perform manual labor, equipment inspections, and basic maintenance.
Strong safety record and commitment to OSHA and company safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
CDL License
Certifications in heavy equipment operation or construction safety.
Familiarity with underground utility installation, fiber construction, or telecommunications projects.
Experience with advanced boring machine technologies or automation.
Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of environmental and municipal regulations for drilling operations.
Responsibilities
Operate horizontal boring machines, excavators, trucks, and related equipment to complete underground conduit and pathway installations.
Construction labor as needed. This may involve, shovels, picks, and heavy tools. Installing vaults, handholes, and other buried equipment.
Perform equipment checks, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs to reduce downtime.
Follow OSHA and Luck Grove safety protocols at all times to protect yourself, your crew, and the public.
Accurately measure, mark, and verify drilling paths using tape measures and hand tools.
Coordinate closely with field crews, supervisors, and project managers to ensure work meets deadlines and specifications.
Assist with site preparation, cleanup, and manual labor tasks as needed.
Promptly document and report safety incidents, near misses, or equipment issues.
Work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions, maintaining consistent performance and focus.
